KANYE WEST & ZANE LOWE BBC RADIO 1 INTERVIEW…

Kanye recently sat down with Zane Lowe for an exclusive BBC Radio 1 interview. The first, second and third of a four part special is currently available to view followed by a full audio interview. 

This exclusive focuses on Kanye discussing the creation of his latest album Yeezus, the meaning behind selected songs, his musical influences, creativities, branding, fashion, trends, culture and more.

Kanye says about his musical influences, “I wouldn’t be Kanye West if it wasn’t for Michael Jackson…” and mentions what Jackson did with music videos and the grounds he broke.

During the interview Kanye expresses his personal thoughts and frustrations…

“I make music I can do it but I shouldn’t be limited to only ONE place of creativity and it’s literally only like one or two or three reasons why I haven’t been able to break THAT down…” says Kanye.

He goes on to mention his aspirations of wanting to make uniforms for his high school basketball team through brand Yeezy.

“I want to make that one step, and then make another step, and then eventually do uniforms for the entire city.Then I want those uniforms to be hot and make money. Then I eventually want to be the anchor and the force behind a billion dollar company…” says Kanye.

Kanye expresses his motivation in the music and fashion industries and states how he wants to help and how he has so much to give… 

With reference to the fashion world, his ideas, vision, creativity and challenges, Kanye says “All I need is the breakthrough, the joint venture for my clothing…”

“I’ve dedicated the past 10 years of my life to this, I’ve spent 80% of my time working on this [fashion] and 20% of my time working on music…” says Kanye

Furthermore he goes on to highlight spending time in Paris, putting in work and says how he is a slave to fashion, how he loves it and how it’s in his code. 

“I want to make things, I want to be able to make things and I’m not going to be able to make things that I can call Kanye West, just by making T-Shirts, at a certain point it has to connect…” says Kanye… and references Jay-Z and how he would not have made it this far without Jay-Z’s co-sign.  

Kanye talks about the makings of tracks ‘I Am A God’, ‘Black Skinhead’, the production and insight of ‘Dark Fantasy’, ‘Blood on the leaves’ and ‘New Slaves’ and uses the interview as an opportunity to voice his opinions and puts his creativity and aspirations out there… Well there’s no doubt Mr. Ye has made it crystal clear that he’s ready to take on the fashion world!
